Everyone wants a thick healthy lawn but most of us have soil that lacks the nutrients required to build a thick turf. Enter The Scotts Lawn Pro 4-Step Program. This 4 step program if followed correctly greens up a lawn in spring and keeps it growing through the entire season without weeds or insect damage. Below is an explanation of what each “step” claims to accomplish.
Understanding The Scotts® Lawn Pro® 4-Step Program
- Buy Scotts® Lawn Pro® Step™ 1 - Early Spring: February - April - In early spring crabgrass and other weeds start to germinate, Step 1 prevents weeds from germinating and fertilizes, deeps feeding lawns from up to 8 weeks.
- Buy Scotts® Lawn Pro® Step™ 2 - Late Spring: April - June - Late spring is the time to treat your lawn and eliminate dandelions, clover and other broadleaf weeds. Step 2 prevents these weeds from germinating and also fertilizes.
- Buy Scotts® Lawn Pro® Step™ 3 - Summer: June - August - In the heat of summer insects thrive. Step 3 is an insect killer with fertilizer to strengthen and allow your lawn to withstand heat and drought conditions.
- Buy Scotts® Lawn Pro® Step™ 4 - Fall: August - November - This product is formulated to build stronger deeper roots over the winter. Step 4 is often overlooked, winter lawns are sometimes in need of the most help.
I believe this program is good as long as it is followed correctly, if you apply any step too late (or too early) you might not have the same success. It is always smart to apply each step as early as possible for optimum results. I will be also trying Scotts new Lawn Pro Step Program this season and report back what I find.
